Launch of the Joint Action EUnetCCC: Better Together through Releasing Synergies Across Borders
Last updated: 21.07.2025Paris, France – The Joint Action European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (EUnetCCC) officially launched with a kick-off meeting held on 21–22 October in Paris.
EUnetCCC, co-funded by the EU4Health Programme, is the largest health initiative under Flagship 5 of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. Its mission is clear: by 2030, 90% of eligible patients across Europe should have access to high-quality cancer care through certified Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs). The network currently includes over 160 partners from 31 countries, working towards the establishment of at least 100 high-standard CCCs by 2028.
This inaugural meeting marked an important milestone in the project’s ambitious plan to build a connected, high-quality cancer care infrastructure across Europe. Over the two-day event, participants exchanged ideas, formed new partnerships, and laid the foundation for meaningful cross-border collaboration.
There was a strong sense of shared purpose throughout the event. It fostered a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere through both formal sessions and informal discussions. The energy reflected the deep commitment of all involved in shaping a more unified approach to cancer care across nations, by strengthening collaboration among cancer centres, fostering innovation, and creating a coordinated ecosystem of care and research focused on patient needs.
EUnetCCC represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity: a platform dedicated to advancing cancer care, research, and equity across Europe. By working together across borders, this initiative aims to bring real change to the lives of people affected by cancer.
With an excellent leadership team and a broad community of committed experts, patient advocates, and healthcare professionals, there is strong confidence that this shared vision can become a reality. With nearly four years ahead, the EUnetCCC community is ready to fully harness the potential of this Europe-wide collaboration to drive shared learning and lasting innovation.
